Makes 1 (8-inch square) pan
Ingredients
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 - eggs
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk
How To Make corn bread

Step 1Preheat oven to 400ºF. Butter 8-inch square baking pan.

Step 2In large bowl, stir together corn meal, flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In separate bowl, beat eggs together with buttermilk and butter.

Step 3Slowly add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.

Step 4Place batter in prepared pan (batter will be thick). Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until bread is golden brown and a cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool on a cooling rack for 10-15 minutes before turning out of the pan.
