cheesy onion bread (no knead )

This is a very easy and delicious bread to make. I have been making this bread for years and have no idea where I originally got it. I have changed the cheese type to mozzarella and added olives and pepperoni and had a pizza bread.

Ingredients

  • 5-1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 packages (1/4 oz. each ) quick rise yeast
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margerine
  • 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons shredded cheddar cheese ; divided
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion

How To Make cheesy onion bread (no knead )

  • Step 1
    IN A MIXING BOWL COMBINE 2-1/2 CUPS FLOUR , SUGAR , YEAST SALT AND PEPPER .
  • Step 2
    IN A SAUCE PAN , HEAT WATER AND BUTTER TO 120°to 130°
  • Step 3
    ADD TO DRY INDGREDIENTS ; BEAT JUST UNTIL MOISTENED , STIR IN 3/4 CUP OF CHEESE , ONION AND REMAINING FLOUR ; BEAT UNTIL SMOOTH .
  • Step 4
    TURN ONTO LIGHTLY FLOURED SURFACE ; SHAPE INTO A BALL ; PLACE INTO A GREASED 2 QT. ROUND BAKING DISH.
  • Step 5
    COVER AND LET RISE IN A WARM PLACE UNTIL DOUBLED ; ABOUT 20 MINUTES .
  • Step 6
    BAKE @ 350° FOR 40-45 MIN.OR UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN.
  • Step 7
    SPRINKLE WITH REMAINING CHEESE ; BAKE 5 MIN. LONGER OR UNTIL CHEESE IS MELTED .
  • Step 8
    REMOVE FROM DISH TO A WIRE RACK . YIELDS 1 LOAF.
