This bread is a different type of bread, since it is made with a mix of white and wheat flour with molasses, pecans, zest of 1 orange, and orange juice.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsifted whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped pecans
  • - grated zest of one orange
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 5 tablespoons butter..melted & slightly cooled

How To Make tenakee orange pecan bread

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350.Grease and flour 2 loaf pans. Sift the white flour,sugar,baking powder,and salt into a large mixing bowl.Stir in the whole wheat flour,pecans,and orange zest. In another bowl,beat the eggs,then add the milk,molasses,orange juice and vanilla,blending well. Stir in melted butter.
  • Step 2
    Make a well in the dry ingredients and add liquid mixture all at once. Stir gently with a fork,just enough to combine the wet and dry ingredients. Divide batter between 2 pans and bake for 1 hour or until bread tests done with a toothpick. Cool slightly in pans before removing to a rack to cool thoroughly before slicing.
