- 2 cups sifted flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsifted whole wheat flour
- 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped pecans
- - grated zest of one orange
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 5 tablespoons butter..melted & slightly cooled

Step 1Preheat oven to 350.Grease and flour 2 loaf pans. Sift the white flour,sugar,baking powder,and salt into a large mixing bowl.Stir in the whole wheat flour,pecans,and orange zest. In another bowl,beat the eggs,then add the milk,molasses,orange juice and vanilla,blending well. Stir in melted butter.

Step 2Make a well in the dry ingredients and add liquid mixture all at once. Stir gently with a fork,just enough to combine the wet and dry ingredients. Divide batter between 2 pans and bake for 1 hour or until bread tests done with a toothpick. Cool slightly in pans before removing to a rack to cool thoroughly before slicing.
