"Roll Day" in the cafeteria...Cin
Here is a cafeteria recipe that was used in probably tons of schools across the states.
I have not made them in a while and don't have any of my pix on my computer, so these are borrowed from the net.
Although, they do look just like this.
The one pic below, shows the inside of the baked roll.
- 2 1/2 lb
- plain flour
- 1/2 c
- dry milk
- 1/2 c
- granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 Tbsp
- 1/4 c
- instant yeast
- 3/4 c
- melted, cooled butter (or shortening, room temperature)
- 3 c
- lukewarm water
Add yeast, lukewarm water and cooled melted butter.
Beat 15 minutes (this is an important step).
Roll out to 1/2 to 3/4-inch thick on a floured serface. Cut out rolls with cutter.
Bake at 350°F until done, (about 35 to 40 minutes, until tops have browned), just keep an eye on them.
Remove from oven and butter tops.
Makes approximately 65 rolls.
