portuguese fried bread
I serve this whenever I make a big ole pot of Portuguese Bean Soup, Pasteles Stew and I've even served it, tostada style, with some Bacalao Salad on top. We hope you'll love it as much as we do. Enjoy!

Ingredients
- 2 cups flour, all purpose
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons refined sugar
- 3/4 cup milk
- - vegetable oil for frying
How To Make portuguese fried bread

Step 1Whisk together A&P flour, baking soda, salt and sugar. Add milk and mix well. Divide dough into balls. Pat out on a flat, floured surface to 1/2 inch thick.

Step 2Fry in approximately 1/2 to 3/4 cup hot (300 to 350 degrees) vegetable oil. Fry until golden or brown on both sides. Place on wire rack with some newspaper placed underneath it to catch any oil drippings.

Step 3Serve warm. Enjoy!
