This simple recipe comes from Our Irish Grannies' Recipes. This is what our Irish ancestors would be fed when they were under the weather--a simple dish that would not upset the stomach, saving the body's energy to heal itself rather than using it to digest heavy foods. Definitely a comfort food!

Ingredients

1 Tbsp
bread crumbs
1 c
milk
1 tsp
butter
1 tsp
sugar
1
egg

Step-By-Step

1In a small saucepan, bring the milk and the butter to a boil over medium heat. Pour over the bread crumbs. Add the sugar.
2Beat the egg, add a few teaspoons of the hot milk, and stir together, then slowly add back into the other ingredients.
3Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 30 minutes until golden brown.
