Ingredients

  • 1 cup corn meal
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons oil (your choice)
  • OPTIONS
  • 1 small can of chopped green chili would be a great addition

How To Make grandma's cornbread

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 425 degrees. Put the 3T oil in the cast-iron pan. Place the pan in the oven while preheating.
  • Step 2
    Beat eggs. Add the wet ingredents, mix well.
  • Step 3
    Add to that the dry ingredents, until moist.
  • Step 4
    When oven is done preheating remove pan. Add ingredents to hot pan. Put pan back into oven.
  • Step 5
    Bake for 25 min.
