Ingredients
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 package (10 oz.) cornbread mix
- 1 - egg
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp american cheese (2 oz.)
How To Make ellen's cheesy cornbread

Step 1In a skillet cook onion in butter till tender but not brown. Prepare cornbread mix according to package directions, including egg and milk. Add the sugar.

Step 2Stir in the cooked onion and shredded cheese. Spoon the batter into a greased 8x8x2" round or square baking pan.

Step 3Bake in a pre-heated 375-degree oven about 30 minutes. Remove from oven and keep warm. Before serving, cut into wedges or squares.
