betty's corn bread

When I came across Betty's recipe for corn bread I decided to add it. Do any of us remember when we made this simple recipe from scratch? It's really easy.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons shortening
  • 2 - eggs , beat well
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons sugar

How To Make betty's corn bread

  • Step 1
    Scald milk and pour over the cornmeal and shortening. Cool, add beaten eggs, baking powder,salt, and sugar mix well. Pour into a greased shallow pan and bake in a hot oven.
  • Step 2
    Bake at 400 for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
