This quick & easy sandwich recipe comes from a label on a jar of apple butter. Sometimes that's where you can find the yummiest recipes! This is so tasty and fun--great for kids and grandparents alike!

Ingredients

  • 1 - granny smith apple
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup grated apple
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons crunchy peanut butter
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons apple butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 6 slices whole wheat bread, lightly toasted
  • NOTE: YOU MAY ALSO ADD 1 SLICED BANANA IF YOU WISH.

How To Make nutty apple sandwich

  • Step 1
    Peel, core, and slice the Granny Smith apple.
  • Step 2
    Coat apple slices with lemon juice; set aside. If you don't have lemon juice, coat in cold salty water.
  • Step 3
    In a medium bowl, mix grated apple, cream cheese, apple butter, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Step 4
    Spread the mixture on 3 pieces of the wheat toast and top with apple slices (and banana if using).
  • Step 5
    Spread peanut butter on remaining 3 pieces of wheat toast. Combine one piece of each toast to create a sandwich. Cut in half and serve.
