Super easy yet challah bread recipe. I found this on a forum and I wrote it down as "no fail" challah, and it has not failed me yet!

  • 2 c
    warm water
  • 2 pkg
    active dry yeast
  • 1 large
    egg beaten
  • 1/2 c
  • 7 c
  • 1/2 c

  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1

How to Make Challah Bread


  1. Add 2 yeast packages to 2 c warm water. (Not too cold or the yeast wont rise, not too hot or you'll kill the yeast)

    Mix together.
  2. Add 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tbsp salt, & 3 cups flour. Mix together.
  3. Add one egg beaten and 1/2 cup oil. Mix together.
  4. Add 4 cups flour. Mix well.
  5. Let rise for an hour, punching it down at least 3 times during that hour.
  6. Shape the dough (braid). Brush with egg topping.
    Let rise for 30 minutes.
  7. Bake @ 350 for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
