I love to create different breads for bread machine baking. This one is a keeper.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium acorn or other winter squash
  • 1 cup warm milk (105º f)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • 1 package (1.25 ounces) active dry yeast

How To Make it's squashed bread (sallye)

  • Step 1
    PREPARING SQUASH: Cut squash into quarters; remove seeds and membranes from each piece Place pieces in microwave safe bowl with 1 tablespoon of water Cover bowl with paper towel or inverted paper plate (this will accelerate the steaming process) Place in microwave and cook 2-3 minutes or until tender Remove from oven and scoop out pulp into the bowl Discard skin Mash with wooden spoon or potato masher until mostly pureed Mix in milk and stir until well blended but not mushy

    IMPORTANT ***PLACE INGREDIENTS IN BREAD MACHINE IN THIS ORDER:*** transfer squash'milk mixture into bread machine pan Add salt and brown sugar, then flour. Be sure that liquid is completely covered by flour Make a well in flour and place yeast in the depression Cut butter into 4 equal pieces and place one piece in each corner of the bread pan.

    Turn bread machine on and cook on basic cycle
