Ingredients

  • 2 cans plain refrigerated biscuits
  • - hot shortening or hot oil
  • - sifted powdered sugar

How To Make n'awlins take me away! (mock beignets)

  • Step 1
    Heat oil to 365 degrees.
  • Step 2
    Sift powdered sugar, set aside.
  • Step 3
    Cut biscuits in half, and flatten either by rolling or by hand.
  • Step 4
    Very carefully, and a few at a time: Drop flattened biscuit pieces in hot oil.
  • Step 5
    These will brown VERY quickly!
  • Step 6
    Very carefully, turn once while cooking.
  • Step 7
    Drain on paper towels.
  • Step 8
    Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
