Caramelized Onion Dip
2 Tbspolive oil
2 Tbspunsalted butter
2 1/4 cchopped onion (chunky chopped)
1 tspeach kosher salt and black pepper
1 tspbrown sugar
4 ozcream cheese, softened
1/2 csour cream
1 tspfresh minced sage or 1/2 teaspoon ground sage
How to Make Caramelized Onion Dip
- Slice onions 1/2 inch thick then chop chunky.
In a large skillet over medium heat add the oil and butter.
When butter has melted, add the onions and season with salt and pepper and sage. Stir in sugar, to taste.
Cook stirring occasionally, until onions are a deep golden brown and look to be caramelized - about 20 minutes. Watch them carefully- so they do not burn. Remove from flame and let cool.
