I just love stone fruits such as peaches or nectarines, apricots, and plums. When you grill these types of fruits it gives them a smoky, slightly charred flavor that is a perfect match for their natural sweetness.

Stone fruits are one of the bounties of summer and this is a great use for them. We used grilled peaches and loved this! The peaches were nice and soft. The natural sugar crystallized slightly on the fruit. The flavor combination in the yogurt, orange, and vanilla is a great addition to the peach. Maple syrup adds just the right amount of sweetness. A simple dessert for a hot summer day.

Ingredients For grilled stone fruit

  • 1 c
    vanilla yogurt
  • 4
    stone fruit (your choice)
  • 1 Tbsp
    fresh squeezed orange juice
  • zest of one orange
  • 4 Tbsp
    pure maple syrup

How To Make grilled stone fruit

  • Straining yogurt in cheesecloth.
    Line a strainer with 2 sheets unbleached paper towels or cheesecloth set over a bowl. Place yogurt in a strainer and let the liquid drain off the yogurt. This will take about 1 hour.
  • Cutting peaches in half.
    Preheat grill on high heat. Cut fruit in half and remove pits.
  • Peaches on a grill.
    Turn flame to medium high and place fruit cut side down. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes depending on your grill.
  • Orange zest added to yogurt.
    Add the zest (I prefer my zest really small so I use a microplane) and orange juice to the strained yogurt and mix.
  • Yogurt mixture poured on top of grilled peaches.
    Divide fruit between 4 plates. Top each pair with 1/4 c. yogurt mixture.
  • Pouring maple syrup over grilled peaches with yogurt.
    And 1 tablespoon maple syrup. Garnish with orange zest.
