LOL! SS! Yes, I'm picturing people choking all over the place! But what a way to go!
The chocolate covered caramels worked great! I'm making them again today! Just don't put these cupcakes in a cold place because the candy centers will harden...then you'll have the choking hazard all over again! lol!
You know I wondered about the cherry and the cordial/liquid portion, and how that would work out. I also wonder about caramels of any type, or if they would do the same thing. Maybe not.
The cordials fall to the bottom and do not stay suspended in the batter. So it's a different take on "surprise inside". You want to wait until they cool completely before removing the papers. See photo and the notes on the photo.
I would probably not use the cordials again. But I might use a chocolate-dipped pitted sweet cherry. They might have the same weight as a Hershey's kiss.
Susan, I am going to make these today. The two tone batter is a nice effect! What do you think about the cherry cordial center? I'm not sure I want to part with my Hershey's Hugs (and Kisses) and I'm going to have to purchase more candy. I'm wondering about the cordials and how they taste.
Yes - I mixed up the white cake, and put half of it in the papers, then added a few drops of red food coloring to what was left and used that over the cherry cordials. It blended with a marbled effect when it baked.
What a great idea...I always forget to look there for Valentine stuff! I love the two tone cupcakes also! Did you just tint the cake with food coloring? I might try that tonight also!
