Remove from hot oil and put onto paper towel lined pan or plate.
Instead of slicing apples across... slice them up and down... and then use the cannoli tube to remove the core. This way you have more of a heart shaped apple slice.

I like to line a colander with paper towels and place rings and chunks of apples to drain. Another of my favorite coatings is Rodelle's Vanilla Sugar.
*** If you cut up the apple into small chunks, you can batter and fry them just like you did the apple rings.
Put coated apple slice into hot oil and fry until golden brown.
I put the apple slices into the batter and coat them well, using the fork to turn them and remove them from the batter, and gently place them into the hot oil.
I just use a fork to stir the batter together.
I love using Rodelle Cinnamon Sugar to sprinkle on top.
