How To Make apple ring fritters (and balls)

  • Put all dry batter ingredients into bowl.
    1
Put all dry ingredients into a large bowl.
  • 2
Add eggs, oil, vanilla, and about 1/2 of the can of 7-UP. Stirring to create a thick batter, add more 7-UP as needed.
  • I just use a fork to stir the batter together.
    3
I don't worry about the batter looking uniform, I like the swirls of cinnamon.
  • A cannoli tube and knife are used to slice apple and remove the core to form rings
    4
Wash, dry and slice apples, remove the core (I use a cannoli tube, but you can use a knife or small round cutter).
  • I put the apple slices into the batter and coat them well, using the fork to turn them and remove them from the batter, and gently place them into the hot oil.
    5
Place apple rings into batter, I use a fork to turn them and remove them from batter.
  • Put coated apple slice into hot oil and fry until golden brown.
    6
Put coated apple ring into hot oil for frying.
  • 7
Use a fork or a slotted spoon to turn apple rings over and to remove them from the hot oil.
  • Remove from hot oil and put onto paper towel lined pan or plate.
    8
Place rings on a paper towel lined platter or in a lined colander.
  • *** If you cut up the apple into small chunks, you can batter and fry them just like you did the apple rings.
    9
*** You can also cut up apple and make apple balls.
  • Rings and chunks coated in Rodelle's Vanilla Sugar.
    10
Sprinkle with either vanilla sugar, cinnamon sugar (or both!) ***I use Rodelle Vanilla Sugar or Cinnamon Sugar. I became hooked on Rodelle products after winning a grand prize several years ago... part of the prize was a years supply of Rodelle baking products.
  • Instead of slicing apples across... slice them up and down... and then use the cannoli tube to remove the core. This way you have more of a heart shaped apple slice.
    11
You can use favorite apples, red or green. Slice into rings... Or heart shapes. Cut apples up and down to get heart shapes. Remove seeds/core the same as you do the rings.
