On February 24, 2026, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced Saputo USA issued a voluntary recall of Great Value cottage cheese sold at Walmart because of a possible health risk.
Select cottage cheese products were recalled because of the possibility that a liquid dairy ingredient used in the items was not fully pasteurized according to state regulatory standards.
At this time, no illnesses or hospitalizations have been reported. However, consuming products that are not fully pasteurized can pose a significant health risk to young and elderly or immunocompromised individuals.
How to Identify Recalled Cottage Cheese
All products were sold in white plastic tubs with white lids. The “Best By” dates are located on the side of the lids. Find images of affected cottage cheese products here on the FDA’s website.
