Marinara, Meatball & Mozzarella Skillet Appetizer

This is an easy peasy recipe that is put together with three ingredients and one ovenproof skillet.

Choose your meatballs, your sauce, and then go for it… your guests will love you.

So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

12 small
meatballs, cooked, 1-inch (2.5cm) in diameter
8 oz
yummy italian sauce‬‬
4 oz
fresh mozzarella, shredded‬‬

2Gather your ingredients.

3Chef’s Note: Choose your favorite sauce. I use this sauce:

5Chef's Tip: I make the meatballs ahead of time (about 100), and freeze them. That way I always have some on hand for unexpected parties.

6Place a rack in the middle position, and preheat the oven to 375f (190c).

7Add the sauce and the meatballs to a skillet (I use cast iron).

8Chef’s Note: If this skillet looks familiar it’s the ones that they use at Holiday Inns to serve their skillet breakfasts. When one of the inns closed, I picked up about 15 of them. The diameter of the skillet is 6 inches (15cm).

9Chef’s Tip: To make this a one-dish recipe, the skillet will be used for the serving/presentation.

10Slowly bring up to a simmer, about 5 to 7 minutes.

11Remove from heat, and top with the mozzarella.

12Place in the oven and bake until the cheese begins to brown, about 8 to 10 minutes.

14Place the skillet on a heatproof trivet, and serve with some nice crusty Italian bread. Enjoy
