I was introduce to this drink about 3 year ago. I was having trouble with my skin. I friend asked if I ever heard of probiotics. He then introduced me to " what he called" the ULTIMATE PROBIOTIC. Needless to say, everything cleared, and a lot of other problem got better. Store bought Kefir is good, but filled with sugar and preservatives. Did I mention "IT CURVES THE APPETITE". After purchasing my own grains off the Internet, I wanted to share the recipe with you. Hope you enjoy!
1When first recieving your grains, rinse them in a plastic strainer under cold water (for a few seconds)
2Place (aprox. 1 Teaspoon) in your rinsed grains in the bottom of you clean glass jars,
Fill jars with your Whole Organic Milk, leaving room at top for expantion of fermenting gases.
3Gently lay lids of jar on top ( DO NOT tighten lid on jar ) fementing gases most be able to escape.
4Leave in dark, warm area for 24-48 hours. For first batch 48 hours "may" be best.
"I used the cupboard above stove".
5* Kefir should have a yogurt consistency. "IT'S READY !

6STORAGE OF KEFIR
Over a glass bowl, strain Kefir through Plastic strainer, carefully moving grains until all liquid is gatered in bowl.
7Return grains to the jars you just emptied, (no need to wash ) Washing is done "once a week" YES I SAID ONCE A WEEK !
* Repeat step "2" through "4", for next batch to ferment
8Femented Kefir liquid in bowl, should be placed in glass container. Place in refrigerator, until ready to drink.

9Note: FYI Grains will grow the more you nourish them with good Whole Organic Milk. You may feel as though they are taking over. DO NOT TRASH THEM ! To slow down the prodution of your grains (or) to keep them heathy, (Place in jar and cover with milk. Place in refrigerator until ready to use or share.
