Sometimes I add a bit of thyme, garlic and minced onion....even have added a tablespoon of red wine vinegar..........purred carrots...... This is great as is or as a starter!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 2 cups diced tomatoes, may use canned...undrained.
  • 2 cups tomatoe sauce, canned(or 15 can)
  • 2 tablespoons minced dried onion
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil or 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons beef bouillon
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

How To Make tomato soup

  • Step 1
    1 In large saucepan, combine water, undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, dried onion, dried basil (if using), and beef bouillon .
  • Step 2
    Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 20 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Stir in sugar and fresh basil. Serve hot.
  • Step 4
    Garnish with a bit of sour cream or grated cheese or basil.
