This is a pudding more than soup, but the origin for me is a German friend. "Wen das wetter ist kalt und schleckt, oder wen du krank gist, Das weinsuppe ist gut." (When the weather is cold and bad or when you are sick, the wine soup is good.)

prep time
cook time 30 Min
method Stove Top
yield 2-4 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 - inch piece stick cinnamon
  • 1 cup wine, homemade or blackberry
  • 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon, tapicoa (not instant)
  • - sugar

How To Make weinsuppe-wine soup

  • Step 1
Soak tapioca overnight. Drain. Bring 2 cups water to a boil. Add whole tapioca and cinnamon. Boil until tapioca is clear. Might need to add more water during cooking, takes about 30 minutes. Add wine. Heat through, but do not boil. May need to add more wine or water if it gets too thick. Add sugar to taste. If a tart wine is used, more sugar is needed. Taste as you cook. Serve "Mit Brot" (serve with bread)
