1 1/2 lb
fresh or smoked kielbasa
1 c
chopped onion
2 c
chopped celery
4 c
shredded cabbage
2 c
sliced carrots
bay leaf
1/2 tsp
dried thyme
2 Tbsp
white vinegar
3 c
beef broth
2 c
3 c
peeled and chopped potatoes
salt and pepper, to taste
chopped fresh dill - optional garnish

How to Make Polish Sausage (Kielbasa) Soup


  • 1Melt butter in a large skillet, add onions, celery and sausage, cook over medium heat until sausage is lightly browned
  • 2Pour into a soup pot and add remaining ingredients except for potatoes
  • 3Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 hour
  • 4Add potatoes and cook until tender
  • 5Season with salt and pepper and add dill if desired
