My mom taught me to cook this recipe when I was a teenager,and I have passed the recipe on to my girls. It is a family favorite!

Ingredients

  • 2 packages smoked sausage
  • 6-8 medium potatoes
  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • - salt and pepper
  • 1/2 stick butter or margarine

How To Make mom's smoked sausage, cabbage & potatoes

  • Step 1
    Cut the cabbage into bite size pieces. Add to a large stockpot.
  • Step 2
    Peel and dice potatoes into cubes. Add to stockpot.
  • Step 3
    Slice the smoked sausage into bite size pieces. Add to the stockpot.
  • Step 4
    Fill the stockpot with enough water to cover all the ingredients.
  • Step 5
    Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 6
    Cook over medium high heat until the potatoes are tender and the cabbage is soft. Add the 1/2 stick of butter or margarine about halfway through the cooking time.
  • Step 7
    Serve with cornbread, or your choice of bread.
