prep time 15 Min
cook time 20 Min
method Stove Top

Ingredients

  • 3 cups potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons garlic
  • 6 to 8 cups milk
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 large onion
  • - water for boiling potatoes
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon corn starch or flour
  • - 2 peices of chopped ham
  • - salt and pepper to taste

How To Make potato soup

  • Step 1
Wash and dice potatoes, garlic, and onions and add to pot of salted boiling water.
  • Step 2
Dice ham and add to the boiling water ( sometimes I use country ham but I fry it first)
  • Step 3
When potatoes will mash with a fork, drain almost all the water, add butter and enough milk to cover the potatoes.( if company shows up, just add more milk lol)
  • Step 4
When it comes to a simmer, get a cup of the milk out of the pot and add the corn starch then put it in the pot. When it returns to a simmer it is ready but make sure you keep it stirred after adding the corn starch.
  • Step 5
Serve over cornbread or in a bowl with cheese on top........man its good.
