In Miami we recently had a cold spell. On the coldest night I told everyone we should have chili. One of my roommates cannot eat tomatoes, so I researched different white chili recipes and came up with my own and my family loved it.

Ingredients

white northern beans
2-14 oz can(s)
chicken broth

chicken soup base

diced green chiles

johnsonville mild or sweet italian sausage (5 in a pack) casing peeled and broken into a small meatball size pieces

ground cumin

dried basil

dried oregano or oregano leaves

chili powder
1/4 tsp
cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp
black or white pepper

How to Make Sonja's White Chili

Step-by-Step

  • 1IN A LARGE SAUCEPAN SAUTE GARLIC, ONIONS, CARROTS, CELERY AND PEPPERS IN OLIVE OIL.
  • 2ADD ALL INGREDIENTS (EXCEPT RICE, SOUR CREAM AND CHEESE)TO A CROCKPOT AND SLOW COOK FOR 4 HOURS.
  • 3SERVE IN BOWLS TOPPED WITH CHEESE AND SOUR CREAM. SOME MEMBERS OF MY FAMILY ALSO ENJOYED IT OVER WHITE RICE WITH THE TOPPINGS THEIR BOWLS. DELICIOUS!!!!
