This soup has been in my family for three generations and is a staple food with us. It was obtained from a family friend originally and each generation added their own touches. This is my version.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound hamburger, ground chuck preferably
  • 8 ounces mixed vegetables (with lima beans)frozen
  • 16 ounces light kidney beans
  • 16 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 16 ounces tomato sauce
  • 2 - chicken bouillon, cubes
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil, dried
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme, dried
  • 1/4 teaspoon rosemary, dried
  • 1 - bay leaf
  • 2 or 3 medium potatoes, cubed

How To Make hamburger soup

  • Step 1
    Brown hamburger in stock pot until no longer pink. Drain and rinse.
  • Step 2
    Drain and rinse kidney beans and add to pot.
  • Step 3
    Add remaining ingredients and bring to boil for 1 minute.
  • Step 4
    Cover and reduce heat to medium low. Cook until potatoes are tender, stirring occasionally.
  • Step 5
    Serve and enjoy!
