This soup has been in my family for three generations and is a staple food with us. It was obtained from a family friend originally and each generation added their own touches. This is my version.

1 lb
hamburger, ground chuck preferably
8 oz
mixed vegetables (with lima beans)frozen
16 oz
light kidney beans
16 oz
crushed tomatoes
16 oz
tomato sauce
chicken bouillon, cubes
2 c
1/2 tsp
basil, dried
1/2 tsp
thyme, dried
1/4 tsp
rosemary, dried
bay leaf
2 or 3 medium
potatoes, cubed

How to Make Hamburger soup


  • 1Brown hamburger in stock pot until no longer pink. Drain and rinse.
  • 2Drain and rinse kidney beans and add to pot.
  • 3Add remaining ingredients and bring to boil for 1 minute.
  • 4Cover and reduce heat to medium low. Cook until potatoes are tender, stirring occasionally.
  • 5Serve and enjoy!
