Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 2 pounds cut up beef stew meat
- 1/2 stick butter
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup brewed black coffee
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 6 - potatoes, quartered
- 6 - carrots, cut into chunks
- 3 - onions, quartered
- 1/4 cup dried barley
How To Make dad's special beef-barley stew

Step 1Place flour in plastic, resealable bag. Add beef to bag and shake to coat. Melt butter in lg pot over med-high heat.

Step 2Brown beef on all sides. Add broth, coffee, thyme, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low.

Step 3Add barley, simmer 1 hr. Add potatoes, carrots and onions. Simmer 1 more hour, stirring occasionally.
