Ingredients

  • 1 pkg
    split peas
  • 6 c
    water
  • 1/2 small
    onion, chopped
  • 1/2 small
    green pepper, chopped
  • 2
    garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2-3
    pieces of smoked turkey, pref with bone
  • 1 c
    pumpkin, cubed
  • ·
    salt/pepper
  • 1
    bay leaf
  • 1 pinch
    cumin

How to Make Simplified Split Pea Soup

Step-by-Step

  1. Place everything in a large pot.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. cover and simmer on low for 45-60 mins, stirring often, as for it not to stick at the bottom.
  4. It will thicken...you can add more water if you like it soupier...and that's it....delicious
