Ingredients
- 1 pound italian sausage links
- 2 cups dry white wine
- 2 - cloves minced fresh garlic
- 1 - medium onion, finely chopped
- 5 cups chopped cabbage
- 1 can tomatoes (28 ounces), cut up
- 1 cup water
- 1 can green chile peppers, rinsed, seeded, chopped

Step 1Using the tines of a fork, prick the sausage casing several times.

Step 2Cut the sausage in 1-inch pieces; place in a large mixing bowl.

Step 3For marinade, add wine and garlic to sausage pieces.

Step 4Marinate for 30 minutes, then drain sausage pieces, reserving marinade.

Step 5In a dutch oven or large kettle, cook the sausage and onion until the meat is brown and onion is tender.

Step 6Drain off fat and add reserved marinade.

Step 7Bring to boiling; reduce heat.

Step 8Simmer, covered, for 20 minutes.

Step 9Stir in cabbage, undrained tomatoes, water and green chile peppers.

Step 10Simmer, covered, for 20 minutes more, stirring occasionally. (Cool and refrigerate soup at this point, if planning to reheat).
