This is an easy recipe for made from scratch soup and is very easy to make.

Ingredients

  • DUMPLING DOUGH
  • 4 ounces all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • FILLING
  • 4 ounces chopped fresh spinach
  • 4 ounces ground pork, cooked
  • 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • SOUP
  • 5 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons chives or green onions, sliced thin including green part
  • 2 - ribs celery, diced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

How To Make wonton soup by sallye

  • Step 1
    FOR DUMPLING: Stir flour and salt together in bowl. Add milk, oil and egg. Knead dough until smooth Roll out dough on floured board until paper thin Cut into 3 inch squares Cover with kitchen towel while preparing filling
  • Step 2
    FOR FILLING: Thoroughly wash spinach and remove coarse stems Place spinach in bowl, barely cover with boiling water. Let stand 5 minutes, then drain well. Coarsely chop with kitchen shears Add pork, soy sauce and ginger to spinach and blend thoroughly. Place 1 teaspoon in center of each dumpling square in a nice neat rectangular pile Fold over dough from one side, roll up jelly roll fashion. Press ends of roll together to seal
  • Step 3
    SOUP Bring broth to boil, add celery, wontons and soy sauce Simmer over low heat 20 minutes Spoon into bowls. Garnish with chives/green onions
