Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 4 - large ripe tomatoes, peeled, seeded and chopped
  • 1 cup slightly packed chopped fresh basil
  • 1 - large onion,sliced
  • 3/4 teaspoon sugar
  • dash salt and pepper
  • 1 3/4 cups chicken broth

How To Make tomato basil soup

  • Step 1
    In saucepan, melt butter over med. heat. Add onion and cook until onion is transparent, stirring frequently. Stir in tomatoes, basil, sugar and salt and pepper. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer, covered 10 min. cool slightly. Pour into a blender and puree until smooth. Return to pan and stir in broth. Heat until steaming.
