This easy and flavorful split pea soup has been a favorite for years with my family. Even the little kids like it! It freezes beautifully. It may seperate on standing or refridgerating, but just give a good stir and will come right back together.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups split peas, rinsed
  • 2 quarts water
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 2 medium carrots, chopped
  • 8 ounces ham, chopped
  • 2 - large vegetable bullion cubes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon pepper, to taste

How To Make simple split pea soup for the crock pot

  • Step 1
    Combine all ingredients in a 4-6 quart crockpot/slow cooker.
  • Step 2
    Cover and cook on low 8 hours
  • Step 3
    Puree' to desired smoothness in batches in blender or use an imersion wand to blend to taste.
