pea and ham soup
I love pea and ham soup on a cold winters day. My Dad loved it too so now when I have it, it reminds me of the times we spent cooking it together.

- 1 - meaty ham bone, 2 ham hocks or 2 cups of diced ham
- 3 large carrots, chopped
- 1/2 cup onion chopped
- 2 large celery stalks chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 teaspoons dried parsley
- 2 - bay leaves, dried
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 1/2 quarts hot water
How To Make pea and ham soup
-
Step 1Layer ingredients in slow cooker in the order given; pour in water. Do not stir ingredients. Cover and cook on HIGH 4 to 5 hours or on low 8 to 10 hours until peas are very soft and ham falls off bone. Remove bones and bay leaves. Mash peas to thicken more, if desired. Or blend in a blender if desired. Serve garnished with croutons. Freezes well. Serves 8.
