    1 lb ground italian sausage (mild

    1 lg onion chopped
  • ·
    2 stalks celery chopped
  • ·
    2 med carrots chopped
  • ·
    8 cups chicken broth
  • ·
    1-(14oz) can diced tomatoes
  • ·
    1-(29oz) can tomato sauce
  • ·
    1 clove garlic crushed
  • 1 Tbsp
    orengano
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    dried rosemary
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    basil
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    thyme
  • 1
    bay leaf
  • 1/3 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    orzo (rice shaped pasta

How to Make Italian Sausage Soup

Step-by-Step

  1. In stock pot cook sausage, carrots, onion and celery until sausage is cooked. Drain fat. Add all other ingredients except pasta. Cover and simmer 1 hour. After an hour add orzo and return to boiling reduce heat and simmer 1 hour,uncovered, stirring frequently. Serve with freshly grated parmesan cheese and crusty bread.
