- - 2 cups ham, diced or use ham hocks
- - 2 lbs white potatoes /or red
- - 1 -2 lb fresh green beans or 1 -2 lb frozen green bean
- - 1 onion (optional)
- - water
- - black pepper
- - 2 bay leaves

Step 2Cube potatoes, peeling if desired, snap beans into 2 inch pieces, chop onion coarsley, Place ham, potatoes, beans, black pepper,bay leaves, and onions into a wide, shallow pot or dutch oven. Add enough water to come within a couple inches of the top of the food, Bring the pot to a boil then simmer gently for 15 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
