I don't know where I got this recipe. It is a delicious main course served with rye bread, cheese, cold cuts. Then off to the sauna and a roll in the snow.

Ingredients
- 1 pound beef; trimmed of fat and cut into small cubes
- 1 - ham bone or a few chunks of smoked ham
- 3 cups sauerkraut
- 6 cups beef stock
- 2 - bay leaves
- 10 - whole allspice
- - salt and pepper
- - garnish with dollops of sour cream
How To Make finnish sauerkraut soup

Step 1Place all ingredients into a large saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer. partially covered, for about 2 1/2 hours over medium-low heat.

Step 2Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove allspice and bay leaves.

Step 3When ready to serve, ladle into bowls and top with a spoonful of thick sour cream.
