Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 large sweet onions, thinly sliced
- 5-1/3 cups low-sodium beef broth
- 1 cup apple cider
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 4 slices thick french bread, lightly toasted
- 1/2 cup shredded swiss cheese
How To Make easy french onion soup

Step 1In lg pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions. Cook, stirring occasionally 25 mins, or until onions are golden.

Step 2Add broth, apple cider and pepper to pot. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Stir in parmesan cheese. Cook until cheese is melted.

Step 3Heat broiler. Place bread on a baking sheet. Sprinkle bread evenly w/ swiss cheese. Broil 5" from heat for 5 mins, or until cheese is melted. Ladle soup into bowls, top each bowl w/ a slice of cheesy bread.
