    carrot, diced
  • 1 small
    onion, diced
  • 1 Tbsp
    bacon (turkey is fine)
  • 2
    bay leaves
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 pinch
    thyme
  • 1 bottle
    clam juice
  • 1 can(s)
    minced clams with juice
  • 1 can(s)
    tomatoes, diced
  • 1 tsp
    cornstarch
  • ·
    salt/pepper
  • 1 tsp
    red pepper flakes
  • 1
    potato, diced

How to Make Manhattan Clam Chowder

Step-by-Step

  1. In a large pot, render the fat from bacon, add olive oil, onions, carrots, celery, garlic, thyme, bay leaves,
  2. add in the tomatoes and clam juice, potatoes. simmer 15 minutes.
  3. add in the clams, cornstarch, salt/pepper/red pepper flakes
  4. cover & simmer 20 minutes...serve w/lemon.
