turkey pumpkin chili
Warm, hearty, with just a bit of spice. This isn’t quite classic chili, but it is quite good. I can't resist pumpkin when it's in season, so I add it to everything!

Ingredients
- 20 ounces lean ground turkey
- 1 small bell pepper, diced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- - crushed red pepper to taste
- 1 pound pack dried black beans, cooked by package directions, rinsed and drained
- 1 can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 2 cans diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 can 14 oz tomato sauce
- 3 cups cooked mashed pumpkin
How To Make turkey pumpkin chili

Step 1Heat a large, heavy pot over medium. Add turkey, bell pepper, onion, garlic, chili powder, basil and a bit of red pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, until the veggies begin to get tender and meat is done.

Step 2Add the black beans, kidney beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce and mashed pumpkin. Stir well to combine.

Step 3Simmer over low at least 20 minutes, or up to a couple hours as you feel like to combine the flavors.
