Warm, hearty, with just a bit of spice. This isn’t quite classic chili, but it is quite good. I can't resist pumpkin when it's in season, so I add it to everything!

Ingredients

  • 20 oz
    lean ground turkey
  • 1 small
    bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small
    onion, diced
  • 3 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried basil
  • ·
    crushed red pepper to taste
  • 1 lb
    pack dried black beans, cooked by package directions, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can(s)
    kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 2 can(s)
    diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can(s)
    14 oz tomato sauce
  • 3 c
    cooked mashed pumpkin

How to Make Turkey Pumpkin Chili

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat a large, heavy pot over medium. Add turkey, bell pepper, onion, garlic, chili powder, basil and a bit of red pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, until the veggies begin to get tender and meat is done.
  2. Add the black beans, kidney beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce and mashed pumpkin. Stir well to combine.
  3. Simmer over low at least 20 minutes, or up to a couple hours as you feel like to combine the flavors.
