Warm, hearty, with just a bit of spice. This isn’t quite classic chili, but it is quite good. I can't resist pumpkin when it's in season, so I add it to everything!

Ingredients

lean ground turkey
1 small
bell pepper, diced
1 small
onion, diced
3 clove
garlic, minced
2 Tbsp
chili powder
1/2 tsp
dried basil
crushed red pepper to taste
1 lb
pack dried black beans, cooked by package directions, rinsed and drained
1 can(s)
kidney beans, rinsed and drained
2 can(s)
diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can(s)
14 oz tomato sauce
3 c
cooked mashed pumpkin

How to Make Turkey Pumpkin Chili

Step-by-Step

  • 1Heat a large, heavy pot over medium. Add turkey, bell pepper, onion, garlic, chili powder, basil and a bit of red pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, until the veggies begin to get tender and meat is done.
  • 2Add the black beans, kidney beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce and mashed pumpkin. Stir well to combine.
  • 3Simmer over low at least 20 minutes, or up to a couple hours as you feel like to combine the flavors.
