red bell pepper, seeded and cut into 1-inch pieces

yellow bell pepper, seeded and cut into 1-inch pieces
1 large
green bell pepper, seeded and cut into 1-inch pieces
1 Tbsp
minced garlic
3 can(s)
(14.5 oz each) italian stewed tomatoes
1 can(s)
(15 oz) red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 can(s)
(15 oz) garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained
1 can(s)
(6 oz) tomato paste
3/4 c
sliced black olives
1/4 c
cream sherry (optional)
1 Tbsp
chopped fresh basil
1 1/2 tsp
unsweetened cocoa powder
black pepper, to taste

How to Make Touchdown Italian Chili for a Crowd

Step-by-Step

  • 1Grill or pan-fry sausages according to package instructions. Slice them lengthwise and then into 1/2-inch half moons.
  • 2In a large Dutch ove or soup pot, heat oil over medium-high heat and saute onion, celery, peppers and garlic until tender, turning down heat if needed, to keep garlic from burning.
  • 3Add sausage and remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
