Ingredients
- 1 package (appr. 19 oz) italian sausage links (mild or hot)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 3 stalks celery, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1 large red bell pepper, seeded and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 large yellow bell pepper, seeded and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 large green bell pepper, seeded and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 3 cans (14.5 oz each) italian stewed tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 can (15 oz) garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 3/4 cup sliced black olives
- 1/4 cup cream sherry (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
- 1 1/2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- - black pepper, to taste
How To Make touchdown italian chili for a crowd

Step 1Grill or pan-fry sausages according to package instructions. Slice them lengthwise and then into 1/2-inch half moons.

Step 2In a large Dutch ove or soup pot, heat oil over medium-high heat and saute onion, celery, peppers and garlic until tender, turning down heat if needed, to keep garlic from burning.

Step 3Add sausage and remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
