This is my take on a popular favorite. This makes a big batch and is a little "zippier" than the original version. Can easily be a vegetarian dish...just leave out the bacon!

Ingredients

chili hot beans, undrained
2 can(s)
black beans, drained
1 can(s)
cannelini beans-or other white bean, drained
1 can(s)
butter beans, drained
1/4 c
catsup
1/4 c
tomato sauce
1/4 c
honey or brown sugar
1 Tbsp
yellow mustard
1 tsp
onion powder
1/2 tsp
garlic powder
1/2 tsp
chili powder
1/2 tsp
salt
1/8 tsp
ground black pepper
4 slice
bacon(optional)

How to Make Crockpot Calico Beans-My Version

Step-by-Step

  • 1Empty undrained chili hot beans and drained black, canellini and butter beans into crockpot.
  • 2Add remaining ingredients(except bacon) and stir to combine.
  • 3Lay bacon(if using)across top of beans. Cook on low for 3-5hrs. Remove bacon and discard, or chop into small pieces and stir back into beans.
