crockpot calico beans-my version

This is my take on a popular favorite. This makes a big batch and is a little "zippier" than the original version. Can easily be a vegetarian dish...just leave out the bacon!

Ingredients

  • 2 cans chili hot beans, undrained
  • 2 cans black beans, drained
  • 1 can cannelini beans-or other white bean, drained
  • 1 can butter beans, drained
  • 1/4 cup catsup
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 slices bacon(optional)

How To Make crockpot calico beans-my version

  • Step 1
    Empty undrained chili hot beans and drained black, canellini and butter beans into crockpot.
  • Step 2
    Add remaining ingredients(except bacon) and stir to combine.
  • Step 3
    Lay bacon(if using)across top of beans. Cook on low for 3-5hrs. Remove bacon and discard, or chop into small pieces and stir back into beans.
