Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons caraway seeds
  • 1 teaspoon thyme, dried
  • 2 1/2 cups chopped bell pepper and onions
  • 1 medium apple, diced with skins on
  • 6 cups beef broth
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 3 cups cabbage, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • - pepper, to taste

How To Make sweet and sour beef cabbage soup

  • Step 1
    Heat oil on Med-High in a lg stock pot.
  • Step 2
    Brown ground beef with caraway seeds and thyme.
  • Step 3
    Stir in bell peppers, onions and apples cooking for 2-3 min.
  • Step 4
    Add broth, tomatoes, sugar and paprika. Simmer for 10 min.
  • Step 5
    Add cabbage and cook for 3-4 min.
  • Step 6
    Turn off the heat and add the vinegar. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 7
    Serve with a good crusty bread.
