Its glycemic index is 8, which mean it has a slow effect on raising blood sugar. ½ cup beans = 134 calories, 22.5 gms carbohydrates, 2.9 gm fiber, 7.3 gms protein, 2.3 gms fat.

2 1/4 cchana dahl beans

8 cstock or water - your choice

1 conion - chopped

2celery stalks- chopped

1 to 2 clean ham or turkey or ham hock

1/4 tsppepper
How To Make chana dahl soup - diabetic

1Heat all ingredients to boiling in a 4 quart dutch oven, stirring occasionally, reduce heat. Cover and simmer 1 hour to 1 ½ hours. Remove ham, let cool enough to handle cut into pieces & return to soup. Heat again to boiling. Simmer 30 minutes or until soup is desired consistency.

2Optional Seasonings: Garlic pepper, lemon pepper, cayenne pepper, chili’s, minced garlic or 1 packet of Goya Ham seasoning. (has a pig on the box)
