Is it spicy, tangy, or smoky-sweet? All of the above, in this nut mix that features orange, Chipotle, brown sugar, and cranberries! This mix is very versatile; you may adjust the ingredients and measurements to suit your taste. You may also use any kind of nuts you have on hand. Last time I mixed almonds with cashews. Tonight I had pecans on hand. These make convenient appy's or just keep around as snacks. Also great packed into little jars for gifts!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon orange rind, grated
  • 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
  • 1 large egg white
  • 2 cups nuts, unsalted, cooks choice
  • 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
  • `1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground chipotle chile pepper
  • 3/4 cup sweetened, dried cranberries

How To Make i'm a little nutty and spicy (chipotle nut mix)

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 225 degrees F. Combine the first 3 ingredients in a medium bowl, stir with whisk. Stir in nuts. Combine sugar, salt, and Chipotle powder. Add to nut mixture; toss well to coat.
  • Step 2
    Spread mixture in a single layer on parchment paper lined baking sheet. Bake for 45 minutes; stirring every 20 minutes. Remove from oven; allow to cool completely. Stir in cranberries. NOTE: Store in air tight container for up to 1 week.
