Can alternate regular granular sugar for brown sugar. I prefer granular sugar.

prep time 1 Hr
cook time 2 Hr
method Bake
yield 4-6 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granular sugar
  • 1 cup white corn syrup
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla flavoring
  • 1 cup butter, cold
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 1/4 cups unsalted dry roasted peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 packages microwave unbuttered pop corn (orville redenbocker is the best)

How To Make homemade cracker jacks

  • Step 1
Seperate popcorn from unpopped pop corn. Place in a large aluminum foil pan Heat syrup, sugar, vanilla, butter and salt until boiling. Stirring so sugar doesn't burn or stick. When syrup reaches a full boil add peanuts. let mixture return to a full boil adding baking soda. Mixture will foam but it's suppose to do this. It will look very creamy. Let peanuts he up throughly then remove from heat and pour over pop corn. Stirring making sure it is mixed well. Place in oven at 250 degrees for 1 hour. Stirring mixture every 15 min. for the hour. That means you will stir your popcorn 4 times in an hour. Each time stirring well to coat each popcorn with syrup and peanuts.(I use a large spatula to stil with), Let cool in aluminum foil pan until dry to touch and break and place in ziploc bags. ENJOY!!!
