This is so easy to make, you'll never buy those little boxes again! When you get done this you will look at that roasting pan and think “I’ll never get this pan clean!” All you have to do is boil a kettle of water and pour it in the pan. 5 minutes later it will be clean.

Ingredients

  • 8 to 10 cups popped popcorn (i use kettle corn)
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
  • 1/2 cup white karo syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch cream of tartar

How To Make caramel corn

  • Step 1
    In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, butter, Karo and Salt and boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the baking soda, vanilla and cream of tartar. Pour over the popcorn in a roasting pan. Stir to coat the kernels. At this point you could add nuts if you would like. Bake one hour at 250 degrees, stirring every 15 minutes. When done spread out on waxed paper or cookie sheets and cool.
