have your oven turn on to 200F. I have made this carmel corn for years and give lots of gallon bags of it at Christmas time . All my friends and family love it. melts in your mouth. I store mine in gallon sized storage bag which are sealed really well, then when I am making ahead I keep those bags in like great big sealed tight containers like popcorn tins I have saved

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup karo syrup
  • 6 quarts salted air popped corn

How To Make baked carmel corn

  • Step 1
    First I have my 6 qts. of popcorn ready, I only use yellow Jolly Time
  • Step 2
    then in a heavy saucepan melt the butter on low, then when almost all melted I add the sugars and karo syrup stirring until pretty well mixed the turn up the heat to med. and stir until it comes to full boil, boil for 5 minutes
  • Step 3
    Remove from heat add 1 tsp vanilla, 1/4 tsp soda and 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar. Stir this really well as it will foam up ,just make sure it is stirred really well. Have your popcorn ready in Large bowl,i use stainless, and pour on the popcorn and stir until all is coated well, trying not to smash any of your popcorn.
  • Step 4
    After that is done have two large cookie sheets ready ,I spray lightly with Pam. spread half on each sheet stick in oven on 200 F. for 1 hour stirring every 15 minutes
