These have become a favorite Christmas cookie here, rolled in red/green and white sprinkles. They are also good for Halloween, rolled in orange and black sprinkles. They are a soft sugar cookie, not good for mailing; but great for eating!

Ingredients For orange-kist cookies

  • 1 c
    softened butter
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 lg
    zest of one orange
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 2 bottle
    sprinkles or colored sugar for rolling cookie in

How To Make orange-kist cookies

  • 1
    Cream butter and sugar together
  • 2
    ADD; 1 egg and vanilla extract, zest of large orange. Beat until well combined.

    Sift together the dry ingredients. Add them slowly to the wet ingredients.

    Roll dough into 1.5 inch balls. Roll balls of dough in the sprinkles or colored sugar.

    Bake at 350* for 10-12 minutes. Cool cookies on cookie sheet for 5 minutes before removing. Remove to rack.
