These have become a favorite Christmas cookie here, rolled in red/green and white sprinkles. They are also good for Halloween, rolled in orange and black sprinkles. They are a soft sugar cookie, not good for mailing; but great for eating!

Ingredients
- 1 cup softened butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 large zest of one orange
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 bottles sprinkles or colored sugar for rolling cookie in

Step 1Cream butter and sugar together

Step 2ADD; 1 egg and vanilla extract, zest of large orange. Beat until well combined.

Step 3Sift together the dry ingredients. Add them slowly to the wet ingredients.

Step 4Roll dough into 1.5 inch balls. Roll balls of dough in the sprinkles or colored sugar.

Step 5Bake at 350* for 10-12 minutes. Cool cookies on cookie sheet for 5 minutes before removing. Remove to rack.
